Honeymoon Special: A Romantic Private and Gourmet Dining Experience

When visiting a city like Rome with so many dining options I am hesitant to frequent the same establishment twice. That changed when I visited and dined with Alessandro and Elena again this past Friday. My daughter joined me in the enjoyment of the delicious taste treats offered up by this couple. From the best ever bruschetta to the excellent and beautiful summer cheesecake everything was superb. We dined alfresco this time which added to the positive experience. This was a new and enjoyable type of dining experience for us. Spending time with and enjoying the culinary talents of Alessandro and Elena were a joy. The lovely outdoor dining area on the way in would be a real treat in the warmer months. Alessandro pointed out the various plants growing and it seemed took special pride in pointing out his very healthy looking herbs growing near the entrance door. From the first course to the delectable ending desert every forkful was delicious. We opted to have Alessandro choose the dishes according to availability and freshness. It was interesting to be able to visit an area tourists would never see and to see an actual apartment. Alessandro is an excellent chef and he and Elena were very nice. Wow. We had an very memorable incredible dining experience with Allesandro and his lovely fiancee Elena. His place is a bit out of the way so I would suggest taking a taxi there if you are staying in the historic area of Rome or allow for at least an hour to get there via metros and trains. He is truly a fine chef. We opted for the seafood experience and it was well worth it. We had a shrimp appetizer in a chickpea sauce which was excellent, as was the seafood Risotto. Everything was wonderfully prepared. This was definitely the best meal we had in our entire 1 month trip in Europe, and one that we will never forget our entire lives. I would say to go in a group of 4 or more, as it did feel a bit awkward at times just having my wife and I and Alessandro and Elena, especially since my wife doesn't speak English. However that in no way detracts from the experience. We had a wonderful Romantic meal for sure, The bonus was the walk back from his place past the Vatican and along the Tiber to our apartment in historic Rome. My partner and I had a very enjoyable evening with Alessandro and his girlfriend. Having previously corresponded via email, a very good seafood menu was produced along with an accompanying red wine (as requested as we prefer red to white). We arrived by taxi and the venue was easy to find. At the end of our meal, Alessandro offered to walk us to either the Metro or the bus stop but we chose to walk. He gave us very good directions and it only took 35 - 40 minutes back to our hotel (beside the Pantheon) much of it scenic. We had been made to feel very welcome and at home and enjoyed various topics of conversation with him and his girlfriend, ranging from local politics to film reviews to recipes amongst other things. Having a home cooked meal of our choosing, with local people in their own home was lovely, a really nice change to the bustling city and the many tourist restaurants. Dinner with Alessandro and Elena was probably the most uniquely unforgettable experience we had in Rome. Kicking off our trip (we dined with them on evening #2) it was the perfect start to a great vacation. The meal was incredible! Every course was better than the next! It was awesome and very interesting to see what actual Italian food tasted like (not coming from a tourist themed restaurant as you seem to see a lot of in Rome). The conversation was fun and a great way for us to learn more about the city on the beginning of our adventure exploring it. Alesandro and Elena welcomed us into their home on a chilly Roman evening and fed us a fantastic meal. Our favorite was the chicken and peppers that were slow cooked. What I really enjoyed was their willingness to engage in conversation on a variety of topics from movies to politics. Dinner with Alessandro was a delight. We requested a menu of his favorites and he did not disappoint. Alessandro educated us on where each ingredient he cooked with originated, some of which were from his own backyard. We felt very welcomed at this dinner. This was truly a home restaurant where the food and service matched any five star restaurant but included engaging conversation that you can't get at a traditional restaurant. Amazing and wonderful. One of the best meals that I had in Italy. Alessandro and Elena were both amazing and engaging. We were celebrating our 5th year wedding anniversary in Rome with family and friends. All the dishes were fantastic and the wine! It's been our 1st experience with BonAppetour and Alessandro set the standards very high! The ambience was charmingon his terrace, with lemon trees around. The host and his girlfriend very hospitable, open and friendly. Alessandro prepared really fantastic dinner (and was flexible to arrange it at un-Italian hour to suit our needs), he also made special menu for my 11 month old daughter (she speciffically enjoyed the pasta:). I can't say enough about the incredible evening we had at Alessandro's home. From the moment we walked through his white gate, we were transported to a magical place, which was a combination of his beyond compare hospitality, simply gorgeous setting and the most delicious/exquisite meal we have had on our entire vacation. (Which is saying a LOT as we are now on a cruise through Greece, Turkey and the Amalfi coast. When I asked my husband what has been the highlight of our trip so far (we have visited Santorini, Mykonos, Athens and, of Rome) his immediate response was meeting Alessandro and the amazing evening. I doubt there is a better choice in Rome as he is not only a professional chef but a phenomenal sommelier as well. Sitting on his beautiful terrace, dining on the most scrumptious meal, paired with absolutely perfect wines and phenomenal company (his girlfriend is a sweetheart) and then to be treated to his homemade limoncello (made with the lemons from his lemon tree right there on the terrace)... I don't need to say anymore, I'm sure you get the entire picture! There truly are no words to adequately describe this incredible experience, you simply MUST have it for yourself! We actually talked about returning to Rome just to have dinner with Alessandro again! He deserves 10 stars!!!! The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the setting is just minutes away from the Vatican, but it feels like you are in the middle of the countryside!
