My husband Aniruddha and I are the co-creators and chefs of the Bombay Howrah Dining Car. We were born and brought up in Mumbai, and have lived and worked in Hong Kong and Singapore.
The Bombay Howrah Dining Car is a supper club that focuses on regional Indian cuisines from the states of Maharashtra and West Bengal (in the West and East of India). The best Marathi and Bengali food is usually found in homes and as a result very few people have a chance to try these cuisines. Being passionate cooks ourselves we want more people to try the food we grew up eating but with a modern sensibility. And we believe that the personalized dining experience we offer at our home is a wonderful way to enjoy these cuisines, explore the diversity of Indian food and meet new people.
Our supper club menu is a modern take on traditional flavours offered over six, individually plated courses. Some of the dishes you will get to taste include Sabudana Vada (savoury sago patties), Doi Begun (an Indian babaganoush), Tomato and Coconut milk broth, Kolhapuri Mutton Chops (a spicy meat preparation from interior Maharashtra), Prawn Malai Curry (a fragrant and creamy prawn preparation from West Bengal), Bhapa Doi (steamed yoghurt pudding) & Masala Chai Panna Cotta (our take on the popular masala chai from Mumbai). We can create a completely vegetarian menu also.
The price for the set menu does not include any beverages or wine, but we are happy for you to bring your own bottle of wine.
Our house is centrally located close to Orchard Road.

What a fun way to experience two relatively lesser known cuisines and meeting new people. Ani and Priya were great hosts and ensured that the evening was a thoroughly enjoyable one. Definitely worth visiting! (vedi pagina intera)

I have always pined for a great Indian fine dining experience that felt authentic and not pretentious, not like overpriced restaurants trying to impose a western template on our tradition. In Bombay Howrah dining car I finally found that right mix of authentic food with great hospitality along with the unexpected delight of making new friends. I went with high expectations, my home cuisine of Bengal coming togather with Marathi cuisine which I have experienced only in bits and pieces and Aniruddh and Priya did not disappoint . Their passion shines through in everything they do , and it's all superlatively well done. Through the six courses, book ended with with relaxed adda in their cosy pad it was an experience as laid back and delicious as a long train ride through the heart of india. I can't afford to go on the Palace on Wheels but an evening on board the Howrah Bombay Dining Car comes close. First Class gastronomy for the price of a Bombay local! (vedi pagina intera)

It was a memorable evening! Both Priya and Aniruddha are great hosts. Food was very sumptuous. From the Mezze to the dessert, a six course meal, every course was a balance of bland, sharp and sweet with different textures and temperatures!! A very well balanced menu. It's a great place to have a decent meal and if you are one who doesn't like most of the indian restaurants in Singapore... please give this place a chance. We had a great evening full of delicious food, lovely people and joyous conversation. (vedi pagina intera)

We really enjoyed the warm and attentive hospitality and equally delicious and thoughtful menu. With 6 courses - the presentation, the flavors and the anecdotes accompanying each course left us feeling really satisfied and inspired. The combining of traditional with creative (doi begun on a cracker, anyone? ) tells you these folks are pros! Great company, Great food - all in all an evening well-spent! (vedi pagina intera)

Fantastic! Priya and Aniruddha are not only warm and friendly hosts that open up their home to you, they are clearly very talented and creative chefs who don't shy away from experimentation! The six course meal was well thought through and it was a lovely touch that the hosts made the effort to explain each dish and it's story. The entire meal was extremely flavourful and completely steered away from the bad rap Indian food sometimes gets of being overly spiced and too fatty. They catered well to vegetarians and guests with food allergies. We entered as curious foodies and left tastebuds satiated, with the bonus of having made new friends! I would highly recommend Bombay Howrah Dining Car. (vedi pagina intera)

Had a wonderful evening at Priya and Aniruddha's last night - everything from the coziness of the home and the friendly warmth of the hosts, to the amazing food clearly cooked by someone who takes great pleasure and pride in it, and presented like a work of art - was perfect. The effort that had clearly gone into hosting us and 6 other guests was evident and yet not overbearing . The food was outstanding - Every course curated to perfection , with Priya and Aniruddha setting up each course with some great snippets of information and background . And the added sprinklings of some great conversation throughout the evening with the other guests made it truly memorable . We left feeling like we had had a first class fine dining experience in the comfort of a home with a mix of old and new friends - completely exceeded our expectations ! Cannot recommend this enough if you want to try out some off-the-beaten-track Indian regional food cooked with an authentic touch! (vedi pagina intera)

The passion is everywhere.... Priya is for sure a talented chef. Both are fantastic host. But most importantly, they are willing to share their culture, origins and stories. I always believed that good food come from your heart, Priya just proved it. Interpreting her own way some traditional indian recipes was fantastic. Great experience and amazing hosts /chefs (vedi pagina intera)

An unpretenious feast for the senses... in a cozy home filled with beautiful memories from around the world & companionable hosts! I was looking forward to a traditional Indian dinner, and was pleasantly surprised by the modern Indian fusion cuisine served 'kaiseki' style - perfect for the ladies. Every course was a medley of colours, textures and flavours. I loved the appetising prawn in tomato-raisin chutney, with just the right balance of spices and tangy tomato. And of course there is always space for a charming dessert of mango yoghurt tart served on edible flowers, to round up an enjoyable meal amidst free-flowing conversations and warm company. Go for the wonderful food, but expect to leave with a memorable experience! (vedi pagina intera)

There is something to be said about being served a gourmet meal in this eclectic house. You feel like a part of an exclusive club, yet with all the warmth of an Indian home. I have lived in India all my life & been blessed to have had Bengali & Marathi cuisines over the years. But not quite the ones I’ve had at Priya & Aniruddha’s place. The combination of the two cuisines & the flavours that both sharply contrast and blend with each other make you want to come back for more. To name a few, the Tomato Saar Sorbet & the Prawn Malai curry look deceptively simple dishes, except when you taste the complexity of flavours in your mouth. There is a lot to be said for the variety that is served, using Indian & local ingredients. And last, but not the least making Indian food look good on a plate is by no means a small achievement. But then, nothing less should expected from our MasterChef Asia contestant (Priya) and the ‘French’ Bengali (Aniruddha). I would strongly recommend entrusting your palate with these two home chefs & enjoy their company & the course on the Bombayhowrahdiningcar. (vedi pagina intera)

A beautiful story takes us through amazing dishes. Indian based cuisine with a few international touches. Better come with a very empty belly because there are a lot of delicious things to try and I did not fell like leaving a single crumb in my plate ! (vedi pagina intera)
