We are Bego and Iván, a couple of friends from Barcelona, enthusiastic lovers of both our city and its gastronomy. “Something is brewing here” offers you the chance to experience the authentic city of Barcelona and some traditional homemade cooking. We invite you to savour our land and our Mediterranean sea. We’d love to meet you, make you feel at home and relish every moment in our city.
Hello, I am Bego and my mission is to be a fantastic host. I’ll be delighted to welcome you and share a table with you. I am an inveterate traveller, curious by nature, in love with Barcelona’s cultural and leisure activities including exhibitions, concerts and popular festivals. I’ll recommend you the most alternative proposals which are being cooked up in the city.
Hello, I am Iván, your cook. I’m always coming up with new projects. As a former owner of an exclusive seasonal fruit and vegetables shop, I have a detailed knowledge of the local produce. I am fond of retrieving traditional recipes connected to old family stories. I’ll be glad to show you how some of our culinary delights are prepared.
We firmly believe in a sustainable city and tourism closer to our land’s reality. We are interested in collaborative consumption, promoting social values and are committed to improving environmental quality. Our priority is, therefore, to delicately choose our raw materials by selecting fresh (and organic whenever possible) and local produce from small producers.
“Oh, welcome, come in, come in, we’ll turn sadness into smoke, because my home is your home if such thing as somebody’s home exists”
Song: “The sun may rise on any night” by Jaume Sisa, singer and songwriter from Barcelona.
Where are we?
How about enjoying our experience after walking around Park Güell? We are located in carrer Sostres, only 5 minutes walk from this iconic landmark by Antoni Gaudí in which architecture and nature merge at a unique spot overlooking the city.

My wife and I were the only people registered on the day we came but thankfully they went ahead, as we would have been disappointed to have the session cancelled. We were essentially one on one with both Bego and Ivan and were able to have a long and intense conversation about Catalan food and culture. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. These are nice, warm, down to earth folk. Ooh, and the paella was delicious!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with Bego and Ivan. They were both so friendly and a wealth of information about Barcelona and the local food and produce. To start, we learned from Bego how to mix a simple but delicious traditional apertif with local vermut. Tasty olives accompanied the drinks (also IN the drink). Next we made a simple starter of bread and tomato which I hope to replicate at home, such a simple as tasty snack! Ivan brought out his gazpacho, so good! Gazpacho is becoming a favorite dish of ours, and Ivan's didn't disappoint. He was also kind enough to give us his secret recipe. Learning to make an authentic paella was why we booked this experience and it was very informative, from knowing the types of tomatoes used, to how heat the pan correctly. We loved seeing the process and Ivan was very entertaining. We enjoyed the afternoon with delicious food and excellent company, Bego was so knowledgeable and interesting to chat to, giving us plenty of recommendations where to visit while in Barcelona. It was certainly a highlight of our trip and thank you to Bego and Ivan for being such wonderful hosts.
We had a fantastic experience with Bego and Ivan!! First of all they are both extremely friendly and are committed to making sure their guests have a wonderful time. They were so kind to my children and let them participate in the class. And the food! Yum, it was the best paella I've ever had. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Barcelona. It was so unique and authentic. And I want to give Ivan a special thank you for making an hour trek back to his house to get his car and take us home (the day we went all the cabs were on strike!). Ivan and Bego, we will be back to visit you soon!
A pleasant experience overall. Both were nice people and good conversation made the evening go smoothly. We all enjoyed the process of cooking and hearing about the ingredients and their origin. The meal was not for anyone who is uncomfortable with fish, mussels, shrimp, and squid. Perhaps by design it was a very minimalist approach to decoration and presentation. For the price, I think there could be more focus put on the presentation. Pictures on the wall, fabric table cloths and napkins, actual wine glasses would all seem more appropriate for a meal that costs this much. I would definitely recommend to a friend or a couple. Maybe not to a family(price too high), and definitely not to someone who isn't crazy about fish and seafood.
I totally recommend it. The paella is great, Ivan is a fantastic chef, very careful with the quality of the ingredients. The fish was really fresh, high quality. With Bego I spent a lot of fun, she knows in depth Barcelona and have traveled a lot. We laughed a lot. I am delighted with the experience. They are great hosts!
We were at Bego's house two weeks ago. The atmosphere was very warm and friendly. The location, just two minutes from Parc Güell, is perfect as the neighborhood is quiet and pleasant. Everything that they offered us was carefully chosen and very consistent with their goals of sustainability and quality. Ivan is methodical and takes care to the extreme that nothing fails while he’s cooking rice while Bego is a good hostess, achieving a relaxed and familiar environment. The Vermouth, the surprise “tapa”, the indispensable "pa amb tomàquet", the wines, beer .... everything was up to the main course, the paella, great and with an intense flavor. The dessert is sweet and curious because of its almost ancestral recipe. Sincerely, I am glad that finally exists a place in Barcelona where the authentic paella is offered and those who came to visit our city can taste it and appreciate the difference. Finally, with a spoon or a fork? For me there is no doubt ... with fork! But as always, there are tastes for everything!
I highly recommend Iván&Bego's paella experience. They are both enthusiastic and kind people that make you feel at home. Ivan's special touch for combining the best and fresher ingredients turns the paella into a superb and unic dish. Bego brings you a very special insight of the city and makes being with them a sweet and delightfull time.
Me and my wife went to dinner in there. We found a great food and friendly experience! We could see how Ivan was cooking the paella and it was amazing to follow all the process enjoying a great vermouth learning more about this beautiful city with Bego. Nice people in a nice place.

My father, as a tipical native from Alacant, used to cook a variety of paella on sundays, which turned me into an expert, and discering paella consumer. There are many places around where you can eat paella, but only dare recommend Ivan's. Here you'll be able to sense traditional paella: unique smells, colours and flavours. I have Know Bego for many years and I'm sure she will make feel at home.

Ivan has been delighting us with his tasteful variety of traditional paellas for ten years, when I first experienced his culinary skills. He's passionate but highly knowledgeable about this art, which he cultivates with such meticulous attention to detail that he makes it into a ritual practised only at home. I can't think of any better way to complete an experience in Barcelona. Bego is a devoted host. She will look after you and give you information on any cultural or leisure events occurring in Barcelona. The perfect match!
